The total loan debt of the private sector from abroad decreased by 797 million dollars in November last year compared to the previous month, reaching 175.7 billion dollars.
The Central Bank of the Republic of Turkey (CBRT) published the private sector’s foreign loan debt developments for the November 2024 period. Accordingly, as of the end of November, the total loan debt of the private sector from abroad decreased by 797 million dollars compared to the previous month and reached 175.7 billion dollars.
DEBTS BY MATURITY
When analyzed by maturity, compared to the previous month, the private sector’s long-term loan debt from abroad decreased by 1.6 billion dollars to 160 billion dollars, and short-term loan debt (excluding commercial loans) increased by 780 million dollars to 15.7 billion dollars billion. happened.
Compared to the previous month, the total debt of financial institutions increased by 587 million dollars, while the total debt of non-financial institutions decreased by 1.4 billion dollars. In the same period, while the debts of financial and non-financial institutions decreased by 149 million dollars and 1.4 billion dollars, respectively, in the long term, they increased by 735 million dollars and 45 million dollars, respectively, in the short term.
DEBTS BY CURRENCY
Looking at the currency composition, it is seen that dollar-denominated borrowing has the highest share, while 59.2 percent of long-term loan debt is in dollars, 33.3 percent in euros, 2.6 percent in Turkish lira and 4.9 percent in Turkish lira. It consisted of other currencies.
It was observed that 40.6 percent of the short-term loan debt consisted of dollars, 16.3 percent in euros, 39.3 percent in Turkish lira and 3.8 percent in other foreign currencies.
When the maturity distribution of the private sector’s total loan debt from abroad up to 1 year is examined, the total debt amount is 52.7 billion dollars. It was stated that $33.3 billion of this amount belongs to banks, $14.7 billion belongs to non-financial institutions, and $4.7 billion belongs to non-bank financial institutions.
