Minister Işıkhan Met With İmamoğlu: A Table Will Be Set Up For The SSI Debts Of CHP Municipalities

Minister of Labor and Social Security Vedat Işıkhan had a meeting with the President of the Union of Municipalities of Turkey and Mayor of Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Ekrem İmamoğlu regarding the SSI debts of CHP municipalities.

IŞIKHAN MEETS WITH İMAMOĞLU FOR 40 MINUTES

After the meeting, which lasted approximately 40 minutes and was hosted by the Ministry of Labor and Social Security, Social Minister Işıkhan shared a post on his social media account.

Minister Işıkhan said, “We received the President of the Union of Municipalities of Türkiye, Ekrem İmamoğlu, and his accompanying delegation at our Ministry. We listened to the demands of local governments regarding social security and working life. “I thank them for their kind visit.”

“A COMMITTEE WILL BE ESTABLISHED FOR SSI DEBTS”

İmamoğlu made a statement to the press members waiting in front of the Ministry. Stating that they discussed how the municipalities’ debts to SGK would be paid, İmamoğlu said, “We shared with them items such as a medium-term borrowing and a reasonable description of the process. Thank you, our Minister, the Deputy Minister welcomed us with a serious delegation, including the SGK President and other administrators. There was a mutual understanding.” We exchanged views with a delegation that will be joined by our Secretary General of the Union of Municipalities of Turkey and our expert friends from some municipalities, probably as of next Monday. “The table on how we can achieve reconciliation will be set up here. A study will be carried out,” he said.

Stating that different payment methods can be developed within the possibilities of the municipalities, Ekrem İmamoğlu said, “We have agreed with them in principle if these results occur. If they are suitable, we will come together again. I hope that we will fulfill our responsibility to announce this to both the media and the municipalities in a very healthy way and with an affordable installment method.” We said that we can get through this together. Different arguments and different instruments can be developed according to the possibilities of the municipalities. We said that the smallest towns should be protected differently. “We also expressed that it is necessary to look at the issue on a budget scale and address it at an affordable level. On behalf of the Union of Municipalities of Turkey, we wholeheartedly thank the esteemed Minister of Labor and Social Security for the establishment of this comprehensive, well-intentioned table,” he said.

Answering the question about how the works will be carried out, İmamoğlu said, “It will start on Monday. We set a goal and stated that it would be very important to finish it next week. Currently, the works will continue in this aspect. My guess is that it will be completed next week. We spoke on behalf of all municipalities, not on behalf of the opposition municipalities.”
